One gaming program that has really taken off is the Gaming for Older Adults at the Glen Ellyn Public Library. I was there to observe, learn, and help out. Thursdays once a month older adults get together to gossip, enjoy refreshments, and game. I met with Beth Cusack, the Home Bound Coordinator to see her program in action. She had set up the two Wii consoles and was bringing out the refreshments when I arrived. After a few minutes the room was already a buzz with excitement over the anticipation of gaming. There was a little snag in the beginning as we sorted out the controllers, but then they were off to the races. You could tell this group had enjoyed each other’s company before, by all the excitement in the room. Scores were high and a new comer even got a strike.
