Friday was my last day in the Technical Service Department. I again searched OCLC for bibliographic records of children’s books. I searched for and found records for 30 books. I also got to experience a problem in the work flow. Some books had been ordered from a website, but when they came in; they were found to be too small to process. The head of the Children’s Department was then consulted. The books were story books for young children in the shape of letter cubes. The librarian decided to keep them for story time. This is just one example of the kind of problems and use of communication that can come up in the technical services department.
