Saturday morning was my first experience at circulation. There are two main parts to circulation, the gathering and discharging of books, and the checking out of books. This day I met with, Circulation Services Department Head, Carrie Jeffries. She explained the ins and outs of retrieving, discharging, and sorting of library materials. At the Glen Ellyn Public Library there are two areas to circulation. The circulations desk and the collection area. Located in the collections are two inside drop boxes. There is also an one outside. The one out side is connected to a conveyer belt that deposits the library material into a bin for collection every half hour. Library materials, such as books, cds, movies and more are continually collected, discharged, and sorted onto carts to be taken back and put on the shelves again.
